Why you've gotta say "yes"
It's no secret that I enjoy a good self-help/personal development/get-off-the-couch book. But there were few that combined my love of TV with the act of Getting Things Done. Until Shonda Rhimes swaggered out and wrote one. (She found time between running two television shows and raising three daughters. Meanwhile, I've had difficulty today doing anything besides microwaving day-old coffee.) Her book, Year of Yes, is easy-breezy. If you like the soliloquies in Scandal, you'll enjoy it. I wrote about the book for Fusion, where I was edited by my dear friend Danielle Friedman, who is every writer's dream. And the glorious and inspiring hand-lettered "YES" below was done by another dear friend Katherine Harris, whose @kingscocalligraphy Instagram you will start following right now. It always feels good to work with good people. Let's remember that. Oh, and here's my story, "What Shonda Rhimes taught me about saying 'yes'!"
