Strangers on a train

Strangers on a train

Is it just me, or does the premise of the new film Snowpiercer — in which the remaining vestiges of humanity are trapped onboard a train that encircles the earth over and over again — sound downright appealing? I think it's just me. No matter. Instead of committing to a lifetime of train time, I took the teensiest of baby steps and headed 11 hours north to Montreal via the Adirondack. I also may have illegally smuggled smoked meat back into the States, but let's leave the discussion for another time. My story about the trip, Six Reasons to Take the Train to Montreal, which features eavesdropping, Hudson-ogling and monster-spotting, is up now on Gothamist Getaways.

Uhhh, is this a painting? One Hudson Valley scene seen from the Adirondack.
