Oh, hi! I work with words in all forms.
As a writer and editor with 10 years of experience in magazine and digital journalism, my writing has been featured in The New York Times, Newsweek, The Daily Beast, Vulture, TED Ideas, and other venues.
As a playwright, I explore themes of ambition and creating connection in a changing world. (I recently wrote in The New York Times about submitting my play “Old Hollywood” for this year’s Pulitzer Prize for Drama to encourage other people to reach for big goals.)
I’m also wrapping up my first year as a lyricist in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. Right now I’m writing a 10-minute musical about the life of a creator.
My newsletter Brass Ring Daily about work, life, and productivity provides a little inspiration — and usually some Sondheim lyrics — every morning to thousands of people around the world. My first book, a motivational journal called Do It For Yourself, will be published in spring 2020.
I’d love to support you in your own creative projects! Drop me a line (or two or three) at kara [dot] cutruzzula [at] gmail [dot] com.
